The Hispaniolan Trogon (Priotelus Roseigaster), the national bird of Haiti is a near-threatened bird. The scarcity of the breed is due to deforestation and erosion in the country. As a result, the forgotten bird is no longer one of the ambassadors of the nation.
This book wants to raise awareness about the existence of the Trogon, a bird which served as a symbol of Haiti for many years. It invites us to deal with the lingering issues that lead to the threatening of a portion of Haiti’s heritage. Trogon sings a song of hope to remind and reassure that change starts with us. His new acquired friends get to learn from him without knowing the reputation he holds.
